Galveston Island, Texas

Galveston-so much to see and do. You wonder how they put it all on one island. Spend a day on our main beach or find a place more private..it's easy. don't like ocean water? try Schlitterbahn, the nation's favorite water park. Hungry? Galveston has enough great restaurants to satisfy everyone from the gourmet to the picky eater. You'll never taste fresher seafood than at Gaido's or better burgers than at The Spot. Sip a cocktail at the famous Captain Jack's, take a tour through the most elaborate Victorian mansions imaginable, visit our aviation museum, or shop on "The Strand" one of Texas' premier historic shopping districts. Take a "Duck Tour", see Moody Gardens- Galveston's own science & nature theme park. Explore pirate history and search for buried treasure. After the day is done, stay in a hotel or condo overlooking the beach or stay in one of the many private vacation homes here. Whatever you choose, beware...you may fall in love with the island and not want to leave!

Galveston Island Favorites

Galveston is full of individually owned and family owned businesses and restaurants. There are so many choices for every meal of the day. Our favorite place to have breakfast is a little hole in the wall authentic Mexican restaurant where you will see lawyers, businessmen, policemen, surgeons, and laborers alike. It is called La Estacion on 25th Street. Another good choice for breakfast or lunch is The Sunflower Cafe on 14th Street. The smell of fresh baked goods will entice you from the street. For dinner try The Mosquito Cafe, also on 14th Street. It offers gourmet salads, grilled foods and wonderful cafe ambiance. If you are looking for more of a beachy, surfside , party feel then head over to Yaga's on the Strand. You have to try their french fries dipped in homemade ranch dressing. Yummy. You can't go wrong dining in Galveston.
