Wisconsin is located in the northern section of the Midwestern United States and is a popular vacation destination with tourism the third largest industry in the state. As a result, Wisconsin holiday homes are available in most regions of the state. Much of Wisconsin has access to recreational water sources in the form of lakes and rivers, most notably Lake Superior, which borders the state to the north.
Some of the state's most popular draws include the Circus World Museum in the town of Baraboo, which entertains thousands of tourists each year. In the summer months, the EAA Oshkosh Airshow along with the Summerfest festival draws tourists from both the US and abroad, with combined attendance for both events numbering in the hundreds of thousands.
The eastern border of the state forms the Door Peninsula, where boating is popular due to the bays, ports, and natural harbors along the coastline. Both Green Bay and Lake Michigan are in this area, which is characterized by small villages, traditional fish dishes such as the fish boil, and cherry picking for tourists and locals every spring.
Wisconsin has recently begun tapping into the lucrative film industry by passing a tax incentive. Major productions such as Public Enemies, a film produced by Michael Mann, have since filmed in the state. Lucky tourists may get a chance to see a film in progress as they enjoy Wisconsin's other amenities such as deep evergreen forests.
