The Amstel River area in the old centre of Amsterdam.

The Amstel is a river in Holland that runs through the centre of Amsterdam - from which it took its name.
From this area you are walking distance to many internationally renowned museums (Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, etc), as well as major Dutch theaters (Stadsschouwburg, Opera House, Carré, etc), the City Hall and cinemas.
The worldly famous Skinny Bridge (Magere Brug) is one of the big attractions of this area: built in 1670 and broadened in 1871, it has been allowed, since the last restoration in 2003, only for pedestrians and cyclists. It has been photographed day or night, all over the year, by tourists or citizens trying to capture the romantic views - and its 1000 light bulbs that are turned on in the evenings - through different angles and seasons. If you come to Amsterdam with your lover you shouldn’t miss a kiss there in the evening: it will be an unforgettable kiss!
