Kissimmee, Florida may have the world's most intriguing name, but it also has a central location that makes it a perfect introduction to the southernmost state in the continental U.S. The city is situated inland on the long peninsula that makes up Florida, which means that tourist here have only a short drive in order to reach the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the Gulf of Mexico to the west.
There is little reason to leave town, however, since there is so much to do in Kissimmee itself. Local attractions include water parks and miniature golfing are both available, as is the opportunity to take air tours in a hot air balloon or even an airplane. When you feel like taking control of a vehicle for yourself, the go-kart races are ready and waiting. In addition, of course, there are always theme parks; since Kissimmee is located close to Orlando; the amusement park capital of the world, the Disney family of parks is within easy reach, as is SeaWorld and Universal Studios Florida, which includes the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park.
For fun that is even more local, try the Old Town district of the city. Here you can enjoy the varied cuisine of eight different restaurants and browse the product selections in 75 different shops catering for tourists. Rides are also available in Old Town, 18 of them, to be exact. For a more unusual evening, try the Saturday Night Cruise, a showcase for restored classic cars. On Friday nights, more recent car models are on display. Tourists staying in Kissimmee vacation rentals will never run out of things to do.
